About Us
Melbourne Gliding Adventure flights are operated by the Melbourne Motor Gliding Club. We operate from Moorabbin Airport, situated just 20km south of Melbourne CBD. Our aim is to provide you with a most enjoyable experience of gliding while taking in the sights of Melbourne and its surroundings. Above all, we are a highly motivated and forward looking team that is setting new standards in motor gliding Air Experience Flights (AEF), training for solo and advanced motor gliding endorsements. Our winning formula of providing the most enjoyable flying experience close to Melbourne in a slick high performance motor glider sets us apart from the crowd. Pilots
Phil Henderson (CFI)
Phil was born in Victoria and educated in Melbourne. Phil learned to fly at the Gliding Club of Victoria in Benalla. Phil is a Level 2 gliding instructor with over 500 flying hours under his belt. Phil has flown internationally and many competitions.
Axel Allgaier (L1)
Axel was born and learned to fly in Germany from where he moved to Melbourne in 2006. He is a Level 1 gliding instructor and has accumulated more than 200 hours of flying experience in powered and unpowered aircraft. He is a geographer by training and is thus keen to explain the peculiarities of the landscapes of Melbourne and its surroundings.
Steve Hobby (AEI)
Steve is a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) and a passionate glider pilot. He learned to fly at the now defunct RAAF base in Laverton going solo just two days after his 15th birthday. He has since accumulated about 200 hours of gliding experience in addition to his airtime in powered aircraft. Apart from flying, he is involved with maintaining the aircraft.
