Soaring the Penninsula

Leaving Moorabbin, we will take you south past Frankston to avoid airspace restrictions climbing to about 2500m. This will open new views over Port Philip Bay and the Mornington Penninsula with Melbourne, the Dandenongs and Phillip Island on the horizon. We switch off the engine so you can enjoy the view in the silence of soaring flight, only the wind in your ears. Depending on the conditions of the day, we may be able to demonstrate how gliders use the power of the sun in the form of thermals to gain height without an engine. You will have the opportunity to try the controls of the aircraft. As we glide back towards Moorabbin, the engine will be restarted to provide the necessary power for our approach.

Around Port Phillip Bay in a day - twice if you like ...

This special flight will take you around Port Phillip Bay in approximately 2 hours. We depart Moorabbin towards the city, following the coast. Heading inland at Altona, we set course to the You Yangs, overfly Geelong and on to the Bellarine Penninsula. Climbing to 3000m over the Heads, we will switch off the engine for a long, silent glide up the coast of the Mornington Penninsula, back to Moorabbin. You will have the opportunity to try the controls of the aircraft. On passing Frankston, we restart the engine to take us back to the airport and bring a memorable experience to a close.
